Brazeau County Community Funding

Is your community organization seeking grant funding? Brazeau County’s webpage lists funding opportunities by monthly deadlines, funding sources that are open year round, and individual webpages that offer numerous funding opportunities. Each section is categorized under grants, foundations and corporate donations subsections.

Grants Spotlight - September/October 2016

Grants are non-repayable funds disbursed by grant makers, most often a government department, corporation, foundation or trust. Grantees are most often, but not always, not-for-profit entities, charities, individuals, businesses or educational institutions.

A foundation is a non-governmental entity that is established as a not-for-profit corporation or charitable trust with the principal purpose of making grants. Foundations provide funding opportunities primarily to registered charities and registered not-for-profit organizations.

Corporate Donations

A corporate donation refers to a financial contribution made by a corporation to another organization that furthers the contributor’s own objectives. Not all corporate donations require community organizations to be registered not-for-profit or registered charities.

Points to Remember

While funding opportunities that are open year round do not have deadlines, it is strongly encouraged to submit applications at the beginning of the fiscal year while funds are still available. Submitting an application toward the end of the fiscal year could impact the applicant’s success rate due to the limited availability of funds.

Some grantors offer numerous funding opportunities throughout the year. These funders are listed toward the end of the webpage. Organizations are encouraged to check these webpages continuously for grant openings and deadlines.

For more information on each of the above funding opportunities and for grant writing assistance, please contact Jodi Beniuk, Municipal and Community Grants Coordinator, at or 780-542-7777.
