Wildfire activity west of Highway 753
Brazeau County is experiencing wildfire activity at the western edge of the municipality. Alberta Wildfire Dashboard indicates that the largest fire in the County, RWF031 (west of Highway 753 in the Yellowhead County Forest Protection Area), continues to be classified as out of control at approximately 83,000 hectares. Heavy smoke is in the area at times.
Fire crews are working on the fire, and building fire guards east of the fire.
Please avoid forested areas in the vicinity of any wildfires. Travelling into forested areas where wildfire has burned can be risky, as burnt trees have compromised roots and may fall onto roads or trails.
Currently, there are no evacuation orders in Brazeau County, however industry and recreational users in the western portion of Brazeau County are should avoid the areas west of Highway 753 through Lodgepole along Highway 620 to the southern edge of Brazeau County.
A fire ban remain in effect for Brazeau County and the Forest Protection Area through the long weekend and until there are improved conditions. Remember to always use Alberta Fire Bans for the most up to date fire ban situation.
