FIRE UPDATE 3 PM MAY 5

• We have expanded our mandatory evacuation zone to include Township Road 482 north to 494, Range Road 82 west to Range Road 84. Bring important documents, medication, food, water and supplies for at least 3 days. Take pets with you. Please follow the Brazeau County and Town of Drayton Valley Facebook page for more information.

• We are also putting the following area on evacuation notice, residents in the following area must be prepared to evacuate within 30 minutes: Township 482 North to Township 494, Range Road 84 west to Range Road 90.

• Our primary concern is the safety of all our citizens and our first responders. There is a mandatory evacuation order in place, please respect this order and if you are within the evacuation area, leave immediately.

• The situation is evolving and can change very quickly, we strongly urge everyone to evacuate from the community

• A reception centre has been established for evacuees at the Edmonton EXPO Centre in Edmonton at 7515 118 Avenue, Hall C

• The fire is considered out of control at this time

• Road blocks have been set up around the town’s perimeter to ensure public safety

• All updates will be posted on both the Brazeau County and Town of Drayton Valley Facebook page for more information.

• Additional resources and support have been brought in to help battle the fire, we are using a combination of both air and ground crews to bring the fire under control. When we have more information about the resources we will provide that information to you at a later date.
