Brazeau County Mourns the Loss of Councillor

BRAZEAU COUNTY, December 9, 2022 — Brazeau County Council and staff are mourning the loss of Councillor Randy Swap, who died early Thursday morning.

Breton/Thorsby RCMP are investigating a head-on collision on Highway 39 near Range Road 45 that claimed the life of Councillor Swap and a 41-year-old man from Red Deer.

“Randy was a caring and kind person that loved his community,” Reeve Bart Guyon says. “He will be missed, and our heartfelt thoughts go out to his family and the family of the other driver.”

Born and raised in the Easyford area of Brazeau County, Councillor Swap was elected to represent Division 1 in the 2021 municipal election, and served on the Agricultural Service Board, most recently as its chairperson.

The flags at the Brazeau County Administration building have been lowered to half-mast to express the County’s sorrow at his sudden passing.
