Brazeau County Council Announces Corporate Priorities

BRAZEAU COUNTY, May 8, 2018 — Brazeau County Council today announced the publication of its Corporate Priorities on the County website, www.brazeau.ab.ca

The Corporate Priorities were set during a strategic planning session in March, and will guide the County going forward as it seeks to provide effective services, develop economic opportunities, and become a prime destination for residents, businesses, industry, and developers.

“It’s good to see Council united in our forward direction to benefit all Brazeau County residents,” says Reeve Bart Guyon.

Current priorities and timelines are:

  • Council will work with TransAlta to promote economic development from the proposed Brazeau Pumped Hydro project. Brazeau County Council supports the creation of new jobs and clean energy generation. (Ongoing)
  • Council will renew the Area Structure Plan to reflect the needs of the residents of Lodgepole, and the possible economic development potential from the TransAlta Brazeau Pumped Hydro Project. (June)
  • Brazeau County will review community funding arrangements to provide an equitable, stable, and consistent framework for all community groups to access funding and grants. (May)
  • Brazeau County is streamlining the development permit process in order to align with legislated timelines, and create and provide a development-friendly experience. (April)
  • Brazeau County will review its road construction plan to best reflect the needs of residents and provide road infrastructure where it is needed most in a timely and cost-effective manner. (May)

The full list of priorities and partnerships is available at https://www.brazeau.ab.ca/county-hall/corporate-priorities and will be updated as required.
