County roads are also mowed annually on a rotation system to ensure all properties are managed fairly.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED HERBICIDE APPLICATIONS

Herbicide treatments for the purpose of weed and brush control will be undertaken between May 10, 2008 and October 31, 2008. This treatment will be throughout the County and on County road allowances.

Herbicides that may be used are:
Garlon 4 (Triclopyr), Garlon Ultra; Round-Up (Glyphosphate), Tordon 101 (Picloram and 2,4-D), Escort (Metsulfuron methyl), MCPA Amine (Dimethyl amine), Milestone (Aminopyralid), Trillion P (2,4-D, Mecoprop-P, Dicamba) and Transline (Clopyralid). In park sandboxes and non-grassed areas we will be trying a new product EcoClear. This is a non-selective natural product with acetic acid (vinegar) as the active ingredient.

Herbicide selection will be based on weed species, stage of growth, present land use, proximity to water bodies, soil type, and safety for the applicator and the public.

Wild Boar Bounty

New on the Pest Act list are wild boars which are moving south through neighboring counties. Currently, none have been found in Brazeau County.  We have joined the Wild Boar Bounty Program from Alberta Agriculture. The municipality pays the hunters $50 per pair of wild boar at large ears submitted and collects a signed declaration that states the animal was at large, was killed humanely and legally and the legal land location where the animal was killed.

Contact Ag Department for more details.
