Services

There are several programs available for farmers and ranchers. Some of these are listed below. For a complete offering, please contact Director of Agriculture.

ALBERTA WEED FREE HAY PROGRAM

Brazeau County Agricultural Services recognizes the growing demand for hay that has been inspected and certified as weed free. That's why we introduced a new program in 2006, which will promote an already valuable product to greater heights. For details on the Alberta Weed Free Hay Program, click here or visit Ropin' the Web.

HERBICIDE EXEMPTION

The No Spray sign must be placed properly. Here at Brazeau County we understand that some ratepayers are against the use of herbicide and do not want it applied to the municipal right-of-way adjacent to his/her land. We want to meet the needs of ratepayers and therefore offer the "No Spray Program". Between the County and ratepayer an agreement is signed in which the ratepayer agrees to maintain adjacent municipal right-of-way for the purpose of weed and brush control without herbicides, in compliance with the Alberta Weed Control Act. To enter into an agreement with the County please visit the Administration building or fill out the form below. After filling out the form, please return it to County office. From there County crews will install signs at the beginning and end of the property. The deadline for this application is May 1 of every year and must be renewed annually. Inspections will be completed and if brush or weeds are deemed uncontrolled, the County will exercise the right to void the agreement.

Wild Boar Bounty

New on the Pest Act list are wild boars which are moving south through neighboring counties. Currently, none have been found in Brazeau County.  We have joined the Wild Boar Bounty Program from Alberta Agriculture. The municipality pays the hunters $50 per pair of wild boar at large ears submitted and collects a signed declaration that states the animal was at large, was killed humanely and legally and the legal land location where the animal was killed.

Contact Ag Department for more details.
