The Agricultural Services Board is a sub-committee of Council charged with the preservation, protection and promotion of agriculture through the development of programs and policies implemented by the Agricultural Department.

MISSION
Brazeau County Agricultural Service Board provides agricultural programs, services and opportunities to rural residents for a sustainable and diverse agricultural industry within the County.
VISION
Brazeau County Agricultural Service Board will promote, protect, and enhance the agricultural industry through programs and services related to weed control, pest control, soil and water conservation, ecological harmony, value-added production and the conservation of the counties best agricultural lands for agriculture. An Agricultural Service Board will have representation from various sectors within the agricultural industry to provide a balanced and diverse perspective on programs and services provided to rural residences. They provide sound recommendations to council on effective, timely, and needed policies.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
- Effective, efficient, and timely implementation of the Weed Control Act, Pest Control Act, and Soil Conservation Act.
- Communication with rural residents which is open, honest, and effective.
- Agriculture, industry, and residential land uses are balanced and unbiased and make the best use of the available lands.
- Municipal lands are managed with good stewardship practices. Ecological considerations and environmental sustainability are part of the planning process.
- Fiscally responsible use of funds.
GOALS
Promote an agricultural industry that is diverse and sustainable.Promote and preserve the historical agricultural research resources within the county.Implement a vegetation management plan that enhances crop, pasture, and woodlot management and considers safe roadways and environmental liability.Provide services to the rural residents that benefit agriculture in the County.
AGRICULTURAL SERVICES BOARD BURSARY
Brazeau County Agricultural Service Board is pleased to offer a $500 Agricultural Service Board bursary. Eligible student must reside in Brazeau County and be enrolled in their first year of a post-secondary institute involving agricultural related studies.
