Agriculture

The Agriculture Department and the Agricultural Service Board work hand in hand to deliver agricultural based programming for the municipal ratepayer. The Agricultural Service Board is the policy recommending body to Council, while the Agricultural Department is the implementation and enforcement arm of the operations.

Priorities of the Agriculture Department include training landowners to control weeds, diseases and insects, to prevent the establishment of new weeds, roadside vegetation management, and to prevent soil erosion.

Please check back often for announcements of upcoming agriculture events and new programs. Don't forget to check out our Ag Kiosk or our Equipment Rentals page.

Residents in Brazeau County are especially proud of the work conducted by researchers at the Breton Soil Plots. To learn more about Brazeau Healthy Waterways, or to order your shelterbelt trees, visit our Conservation page.

Wild Boar Bounty

New on the Pest Act list are wild boars which are moving south through neighboring counties. Currently, none have been found in Brazeau County.  We have joined the Wild Boar Bounty Program from Alberta Agriculture. The municipality pays the hunters $50 per pair of wild boar at large ears submitted and collects a signed declaration that states the animal was at large, was killed humanely and legally and the legal land location where the animal was killed.

Contact Ag Department for more details.
