Councillor Dawn Konelsky was sworn in as Deputy Reeve for the term of October 18, 2011 to April 10, 2012.

Staff Sgt. Brian Jones was in attendance to present the Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment’s quarterly report. 

Corporal Rod Klenk attended the meeting to introduce himself as the new member to the Breton/Thorsby RCMP Detachment.  Corporal Klenk provided a verbal update on the issues in the area and sought confirmation of County Council’s support to continue funding an administration position at the Breton detachment.  Council passed a resolution to continue support for the administrative position and also authorized an increase in funding support for the position from 0.6 (full time equivalent) to 1.0 (full time).

Jennifer Weslowski, Land Manager with Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete attended the meeting regarding the terms of their development permit and their hours of operation.   Council passed a motion to confirm Council’s direction to Administration to allow Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete to operate 24 hours/day, 7 days a week for the crushing operation and the truck hauling to be permitted Monday through Saturday, intermittently on Sundays from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Keith Warren and Heidi Swan made a presentation to Council regarding physician recruitment and retention and requested $10,400 from the County to assist the committee with expenses.  Council passed a motion to approve the funding request and include this in the 2012 budget.

First reading was given for Bylaw 775-11 to rezone a portion of SW 23-48-8-W5M and to schedule a public hearing for December 6, 2011 at 10:00 am.

Council approved Development Permit 11D-164 (Pt. of NW 21-50-7-W5M) under Direct Control in order to set up a storage site for oilfield equipment.

Council passed a motion to establish the reserve bids on each property for the tax recovery sale at the recommended values as supplied by Accurate Assessment Group Ltd.

Correspondence was received from Lodgepole residents request the repair of a road down by the river.  Council referred the request to Administration for review, research and to report back to Council.

Council reviewed the most recent pamphlet distributed by the Brazeau Ratepayers Coalition and have decided not to undertake any further action related to the pamphlet.

A motion was passed to forward an invitation to neighbouring municipalities of Yellowhead County, Parkland County, Wetaskiwin County, Leduc County and Clearwater County for a joint municipal meeting to be hosted by Brazeau County in early 2012.

The next regular Council meetings are November 15, 2011 and December 6, 2011.

There will be a joint Brazeau County/Town of Drayton Valley Council meeting on October 26, 2011 at the MacKenzie Conference Centre starting at 9:00 AM.  The public are welcome.

2012 Budget meetings have been scheduled for November 28, November 30, December 7 and December 12, 2011.
