Brazeau County Council Highlights

Council approved an amended AG-26 Policy for the Control of Clubroot in Canola. The amended policy states that a copy of the weed inspection report will be placed in the land files of Brazeau County; if the report comes back negative, the report will be removed. If the report comes back positive the report will remain in the land file as history for the pest Clubroot in Canola.
Council passed a motion to surface the Brazeau County Sports Park parking lot to the same standard as the access road.
Council received a request from the Drayton Valley Brazeau Snow Club to cut the vegetation on the ski slopes. A motion was passed to approve the request.
Council approved the submission of a resolution "Cessation of Potable Water Use by Oil and Gas Industry" to the AAMDC for discussion at the fall convention.
Several Planning and Development applications were reviewed. A rezoning application Bylaw 767-11 was given third reading to amend the land use from Agriculture to Natural Resource Extraction and Processing. The Poplar Ridge Area Structure Plan, the South Rocky Rapids Area Structure Plan, the Riverview Area Structure Plan and the Municipal Development Plan Bylaws received first reading. These plans are being amended to bring them into compliance with the new Intermunicipal Development Plan.
Administration provided an update on the new Administration building and Public Works facility. Construction is on target for occupancy for October 31 with the relocation planned to start November 28, 2011.
Council has provided direction to Administration to research the option of purchasing the land associated with the Brazeau Tourism Node at the Brazeau Reservoir.
After review of four proposals, County Council has selected Davies Park to conduct the CAO search. For personal family reasons, current CAO Ron McCullough will be leaving Brazeau County December 16, 2011.
The next regular Council meetings are October 18, 2011 and November 15, 2011
2012 Budget meetings have been scheduled for November 28, November 30, December 7 and December 12, 2011.
