Reeve Wes Tweedle presented Ed Hees with a medal from the Alberta Solicitor General to commemorate his 25 years of service as a Peace Officer.

Staff Sgt. Brian Jones and Jean Williams from Victim Services attended the meeting to speak to Council regarding the distracted driving legislation and to present Councillors with a 'no distraction' thumb ring they are promoting to remind people to take the pledge against distracted driving.

An amended Weed Control Policy was approved.  The amended policy states that when a weed notice has been served, a copy will go into the Brazeau County land file for reference and when the weed notice is in compliance, the notice will be removed.  A letter will remain in the land file regarding the history of prohibited noxious and noxious weeds (Tall Buttercup, Oxeye Daisy, Scentless Chamomile, White Cockle, Perennial Sow Thistle, Common Tansy, Canada Thistle and Yellow Toad Flax).

Councillor D. Konelsky brought forward a concern regarding the slumping on Highway 22.  Marco Schoeninger, Director of Public Works and Infrastructure indicated that a temporary overlay is in progress utilizing cold mix.

Council passed a motion to purchase and install audio/video and computer equipment in Council Chambers of the new Administration building.  The funds will come from contingency at a value of $70,000.

Brooklyn Harrington from Mentor Connector attended the meeting to update Council regarding the group's activities and indicated that September was Mentor Awareness Month.

Council passed a motion to support the proposal for the Agri-Plex Facility Feasibility Study from RC Strategies for $23,798.

A delegation of residents attended the Council meeting in opposition of the completion of Twp. Rd. 474 and suggested that Twp. Rd. 484 would be a better solution.   This was following another group of residents who attended the August 23rd Council meeting to bring forth their concerns with increased traffic and safety concerns on Hwy 616 as related to the movement of farming equipment.   The residents attending the August 23rd meeting suggested to Council that Twp. Rd. 474 be completed as an alternate route.

The next regular Council meetings are October 4, 2011 and October 18, 2011

2012 Budget meetings have been scheduled for November 28, November 30, December 7 and December 12, 2011.
