Brazeau County Council Highlights

Staff Sgt. Brian Jones attended the meeting to introduce the RCMP newest member Constable Dan Ferry and to present their quarterly report.
Seven Planning and Development applications were reviewed. These included two first readings for bylaws; three second and third readings for bylaws; one development permit and one application to purchase County owned lands.
Lola McGhie and Barb Harris from FCSS and Mr. Bob Barker attended the meeting. Mr. Barker won the 2011 Minister’s Seniors Service Award. Barb Harris outlined the many contributions Mr. Barker has made to the community and Mr. Barker thanked Council for their support for the nomination.
Council discussed a concern brought forward regarding the disposal of grass clippings. Council passed a motion to allow bagged grass clippings to be taken to the transfer stations subject to Alberta Environment approval. Approval from Alberta Environment has been received.
Council passed Bylaw 761-11 to establish the maximum speed limit of 50 km/hr on RR 84 starting 900 m south at the intersection of RR 84 and Twp. 494 and 100 m north of the intersection of RR 84 and Twp. 493.
Council also passed Bylaw 764-11 to establish the maximum speed limit of 90 km/hr on that portion of Sunchild Road starting from the junction of Highway 620/Brazeau Dam travelling south 18 km to the southern corporate limits of Brazeau County.
A motion was passed to approve the addition of Jorgenson Way to be added in brackets to 63 St as follows: 63 St. (Jorgenson Way), in recognition of long time residents Rusty and Noreen Jorgenson.
Council approved an agreement for Weed Inspection Services with the Town of Drayton Valley. The County agriculture staff will provide the inspection services only. Enforcement will be the responsibility of the Town.
